How Do I Install Flex Pipe On Chevy Exhaust?

I have an 01 chevy Cavalier that needs a front pipe so Midas seys. Its 529.00 for that pipe. I have limited funds right now, like alot of folks with babies and holiday stuff. I was told by another dealer that he could put a flex pipe on this front pipe. The converter seems to be ok. How is this done. Hard job for entry level mechanic? What should I expect to pay for this flex pipe? I also need strap that holds muffler on and it seems that it is attached to side of muffler. Is this a junk yard item or auto parts store. Its a strap that hold muffler in place! Please help me if you can. Thanks in advance!!

The strap is around $12.00. You need to know how much flex pipe to get. Cut the old section of pipe out, put the new piece in….but you may have to slide the exhaust system back to put the new one in. Make sure that you get a pipe that has a bigger inside diameter than the old one so it fits.

i had mine break and i paid 120 install for the flex pipe and the strap hanger is like 10-15 dollars

Flex pipes usually don't last very long so it may not be worth the trouble. Might be better to call some other muffler shops for a quote on the header pipe and replacing the muffler strap with a universal fit type one or find a shop that may be able to patch/weld up the header pipe. Exhaust work can get kind of tricky with rusty bolts breaking and whatnot if you DIY.
